EXTENDAM and Continuum Hospitality Group Launch First Accor-Branded Hotel in Santander

EXTENDAM and Continuum Hospitality Group have begun the transformation of a 3-star independent hotel with 93 rooms, located near downtown Santander, into an ibis Styles. Opened in July 2022, the modern hotel requires only light renovation work to facilitate the rebranding, making it the first internationally branded hotel in Santander.

A Strategic Location in the Heart of Santander

Situated in the Barrio Pesquero district in the southwest of the city, the future ibis Styles hotel is close to the city center, the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (the region’s largest hospital), the industrial port, and the airport.

Positioned between the historic center, industrial port, and industrial zone, the hotel enjoys a prime location to attract a diverse clientele—from year-round business travelers and hospital visitors to tourists during the high season. As the capital of the province of Cantabria and its most populous city, Santander stands out for its strong economic appeal, supported by its commercial port, extensive road and rail networks, and proximity to the airport. The city’s tourism appeal is further enhanced by its marina and convenient links to Madrid and Bilbao.

A New, Accessible, and Sustainable Hospitality Offering

In a hotel market largely dominated by small-capacity independent or local-brand properties mostly located in the city center, the arrival of the first internationally branded hotel—affordable and open year-round—will significantly enrich the local accommodation offer. Being recently built, the hotel already performs well in terms of environmental impact. Its transition to the Accor brand, combined with operations by Continuum Hospitality Group, will further elevate its environmental and social standards in the coming years.
