Extendam and Redman Hospitality join forces to drive ESG change in the hotel sector
Three hotels in Bordeaux rise to the challenge
Extendam and Redman Hospitality, together with Anaxago, are joining forces. Extendam is investing in a three-hotel portfolio held by the Redman Group with the mutual ambition of making the hotel sector more sustainable.
Redman and Extendam share the same goal
Redman, the first French property developer to have earned the B Corp label is a major player in the French property and urban ecosystem. It began tackling climatic and social challenges nearly 15 years ago in its three business lines: real estate development for the tertiary, residential and hospitality sectors. In 2014, when the group launched its hotel management subsidiary, Redman Hospitality, its ambition was to develop a responsible and inclusive hotel industry across France. Its portfolio now includes three assets in Bordeaux. The group is also studying projects in Le Havre, Montpellier and Angoulême.
“Through economic, social and environmental objectives, our ambition is to pave the way for a more responsible hotel industry by reducing our environmental footprint and improving our social impact. We seek to perpetuate our long-standing commitments in a meaningful way and to make our virtuous approach visible to convince visitors and other stakeholders. We share this vision with Extendam, which is driving ESG change at hotels in its portfolio by measuring and monitoring environmental and social performance,” say Nicolas Ponson and Matthias Navarro, CEO and co-founders of the Redman Group.
Redman, a low-carbon property developer with corporate social responsibility in its DNA, has indeed found a fitting partner in Extendam. As the leading private equity firm in the hotel industry in Europe, Extendam has been striving to accelerate the hotel industry’s environmental and social transition for several years. Its investment strategy focuses on creating a hotel industry that is more responsible, inclusive and neighbourhood integrated. The firm supports and encourages improved ESG performance at the establishments in its portfolio.
“To assist our hotels in their environmental transition and social and governance efforts we have, for example, set up an ESG audit and monitoring system in partnership with Betterfly Tourism. This tool enables us to identify challenges and continuously improve. Each key stage of our investment process integrates ESG criteria. For each project, we carefully analyse the hotel’s positioning to ensure its neighbourhood integration over the long term and that it offers – or can move towards – mixed usage that covers current and future needs,” explains Jean-Marc Palhon, Chairman of Extendam.
Three promising hotels in Bordeaux
Extendam has invested with Redman Hospitality and Anaxago in three hotels: the Seeko’o Design, the RadissonBlu and the Holiday Inn Express Lormont. The first two are fine examples of design by the architecture firm Atelier King Kong and are ideally located in Bordeaux.
The Holiday Inn is strategically placed on the main road into the city and reflects the latest iteration of IHG Group’s economy brand. All three establishments are in northern Bordeaux and collectively form a diversified hotel offering.
Seeko’o Hotel Design Bordeaux****
An iconic 4-star city-centre hotel renovated in 2018, the Seeko’o has 44 spacious rooms with stunning views over the Garonne. The hotel is well located at the crossroads of the Chartrons and Bacalan districts, which have undergone major urban transformation. The Seeko’o is accessible by tram and by road. Its unusual architecture attracts attention and makes it unmissable.
Radisson Blu Hotel Bordeaux****
The Radisson Blu Bordeaux sits at the heart of the vibrant Bassins à Flots district. As Redman Hospitality’s flagship, this urban resort caters for both business and leisure travellers. It boasts a 1,435 square-metre rooftop, six meeting rooms and a wellness area. The district is home to many cultural assets such as the Cité du Vin, the Musée de la Marine, the Bassins de Lumière, the Chaban-Delmas Bridge and the Halles de Bacalan.
Holiday Inn Express Bordeaux Lormont***
The Holiday Inn Express Lormont is on the right bank of the Garonne River on the outskirts of Bordeaux at the city’s northern entrance. The hotel caters for business travellers to around 4,000 Lormont-based companies and also attracts walk-in guests given its proximity to the A10 motorway.
