A New Addition to EXTENDAM’s Portfolio: ibis Budget Madrid Albasanz Opens Its Doors

At the end of 2023, EXTENDAM once again partnered with DG Invest to launch a new hotel designed to meet the rising demand for budget accommodation in MADBIT, Madrid’s thriving business district. The ibis Budget Madrid Albasanz is now officially open! With 99 affordable rooms, the hotel is ready to welcome both business and leisure travelers. EXTENDAM’s portfolio now includes 6 hotels and 945 rooms in the increasingly dynamic Spanish capital.

A Hotel Asset at the Heart of a Rapidly Developing Economic Hub

In 2017, Madrid’s public authorities initiated the transformation of a former industrial and residential zone into a mixed-use urban area. The result is MADBIT, the city’s new innovation and technology hub, now equipped with its first budget hotel offering: the ibis Budget Madrid Albasanz.

Responding to growing demand for affordable accommodation—previously underserved in the area—the new ibis Budget is strategically located to serve a diverse clientele.

Surrounded by the El Paraíso, Quintas de los Molinos, and Torre Arias parks, which act as the district’s green lungs, MADBIT successfully combines tertiary activities, light industry, and residential housing. The district enjoys strong public transport links, connecting it to central Madrid in just 30 minutes.

The area has also attracted major corporate offices, such as L’Oréal’s Spanish headquarters, and is expected to continue this momentum with new office developments and renovations scheduled through 2026.

A Responsible Partner Working to Minimize Environmental Impact

The ibis Budget Madrid Albasanz was designed to accommodate a wide variety of guest profiles, both domestic and international. It features single, double, and triple rooms, private parking, and a pleasant outdoor terrace.

From its initial construction, the hotel was built with high environmental standards in mind. Photovoltaic panels power the building, and smart energy systems like centralized air-conditioning controls and automatic shut-off when windows open help reduce consumption. Thanks to these and other sustainability tools—such as air treatment systems, wastewater management, and high-performance insulation—the hotel has achieved an A energy rating.

On the operational side, DG Invest is committed to reducing food waste and water consumption, and to partnering with local social inclusion organizations.

“We are proud to support the development of Madrid’s new innovation and technology hub, a city we particularly value. This marks our sixth asset in the Spanish capital and surrounding region. With DG Invest’s proven expertise and deep understanding of the Spanish market, we are confident the ibis Budget Madrid Albasanz will quickly meet the growing accommodation needs of the MADBIT area,”
say Inès de l’Aulnoit and Bertrand Pullès for EXTENDAM.

“This new hotel is a great addition to our Spanish portfolio of 10 hotels, and meets the demand for welcoming, well-priced accommodation for short and mid-length stays. Our team is ready to offer a warm welcome to a diverse mix of travelers with an accessible and high-quality experience,”
add Laurent Gauze and Jean-Charles Delgado for DG Invest.
