EXTENDAM supports the opening of Babel Lille

Babel Lille interior design by architect Chloé Nègre

EXTENDAM, alongside the MyHotels group, supports the opening of Babel Lille, a new 71-room address located on Place des Reignaux, just steps from the Grand-Place and Vieux-Lille. Born from the restructuring and merger of two hotels, and designed by interior architect Chloé Nègre, the hotel embodies the ambition behind the Babel brand: promoting impact-driven hospitality deeply rooted in its local ecosystem. Featuring a cocktail bar and spaces dedicated to events and encounters, Babel Lille adds a distinctive addition to the Lille metropolitan area’s hotel offering, blending hospitality, culture and social commitment.

Babel Lille: an ambitious transformation for purpose-driven hospitality

Babel Lille was born from the acquisition and restructuring of two adjoining hotels, Hôtel de l’Univers and Hôtel des Reignaux, located at 19-21 Place des Reignaux — a project first announced when EXTENDAM and the MyHotels group unveiled the initial plan for a new Babel address in Lille. This transformation resulted in a 4-star, 71-room property spread across 6 floors, along with fully restructured common areas including a central bar and a seminar room.

The interior design, inspired by the spice route and maritime tales of Flanders, along with the overall layout of the property, were created by interior architect Chloé Nègre, in collaboration with artist Lucille Boitelle.

Developed by the MyHotels group alongside EXTENDAM, the Babel brand champions a vision of hospitality “inspired by the far corners of the world and the street next door.” Each property is designed as a living space open to its surroundings, giving pride of place to local shopkeepers, craftspeople, associations and artists — a philosophy already proven in Paris with Babel Belleville, the brand’s first property.

Following in the footsteps of Babel Belleville, Babel Lille is a société à mission (purpose-driven company under French law) and is part of a sustainable hospitality approach built on the principles of the circular economy, short supply chains, energy consumption management and the use of eco-certified products. The property also develops partnerships with several local non-profit organisations working on employment, inclusion and social integration.

Babel Lille, a strategic address in a dynamic hotel market

Located between Lille-Europe station and the historic city centre, Babel Lille enjoys a prime location just a few minutes’ walk from the Grand-Place and Vieux-Lille.

As the capital of the Hauts-de-France region, Lille stands out as one of France’s leading urban destinations. Benefiting from excellent connectivity thanks to its TGV high-speed rail network and its position as a crossroads between Paris, Brussels, London and northern Europe’s major cities, the city attracts a diverse mix of business and leisure travellers.

This appeal is further supported by a particularly dynamic economic fabric, of which the Euralille business district is one of the main drivers. France’s third-largest business district after La Défense and La Part-Dieu, it helps sustain steady hotel demand throughout the year. Combined with strong cultural, academic and event-driven vitality, this dynamic reinforces the fundamentals of the Lille hotel market and its long-term development potential, in line with EXTENDAM’s hotel investment strategy.

Past performance is not indicative of future results and is not constant over time.

“After Babel Belleville, we’re delighted to once again support MyHotels in creating a property that combines hotel quality, social commitment and local roots. This project perfectly illustrates our shared ambition to develop distinctive living spaces capable of creating lasting value while actively contributing to the local dynamic.”

says Matthieu de Lauzon, Fund Manager at EXTENDAM.

“With Babel Lille and the support of our partner EXTENDAM, we’re taking a new step in the development of Babel, a pioneering brand in impact-driven hospitality in France. Lille, a European crossroads with tremendous economic and cultural energy, naturally established itself as the destination of choice to continue this journey.”
